A monk sought enlightenment but was plagued by dark thoughts.
One night, in desperation, he called out, “Devil within me, reveal yourself!”
A shadow appeared, twisted and grinning. “I am here.”
The monk asked, “How do I defeat you?”
The devil laughed, “Defeat me? You created me.”
The monk pondered this and asked, “Then how do I destroy you?”
The devil grinned wider. “Stop feeding me.”
The monk sat in silence, and the shadow starved.
